Why make a deposit with Holm Bank?

The benefit of a fixed-term deposit is that your money is in a safe place and growing at the same time. If you have some spare money in your business account for which you have no spending plans for the foreseeable future, you can move it to a fixed-term deposit and have it grow at a set interest rate. Company deposits are protected by the national Guarantee Fund in the amount of up to €100,000.

To open a fixed-term deposit, fill in the application form. At the end of the deposit period, you can withdraw the deposit amount with the accrued interest. You can also use the deposit period auto-extension option. The interest rates and terms and conditions valid at the time of extension will apply for each new period.

Frequently asked questions

1. Can a legal entity open a term deposit with Holm Bank and how does it work?
Yes. Legal entities can also open term deposits with Holm Bank.
To open a deposit, log in to Holm Bank self-service as a business customer, provide the required information and documents, sign the deposit agreement and transfer the deposit amount to Holm Bank using the payment details specified in the agreement.
As a representative of the company, you will also need to complete identity verification.
2. Does the Estonian Guarantee Fund also protect deposits held by legal entities?
Yes. Deposits held by legal entities are also protected by the Estonian Guarantee Fund up to €100,000 per depositor. This means that deposits with Holm are covered by the same deposit guarantee principles as deposits with other banks registered in Estonia.
You can find the detailed terms and conditions in the Depositor Information Sheet.
3. When does the deposit take effect, start earning interest and when is the interest paid?
The deposit agreement takes effect once you have signed the agreement, the deposit amount has been received by Holm Bank from a current account held by the legal entity within 7 calendar days of opening the deposit, and all other applicable conditions have been met.
The deposit term and interest accrual begin when the deposit agreement takes effect. This means that the sooner you transfer the funds, the sooner the actual deposit term begins. If all conditions are not met within 7 calendar days, the agreement will not take effect and will be cancelled automatically.
Please make the payment in good time. Transfers from other Estonian banks are generally received on the same day if the payment order is submitted before 16:30. Payments made in the evening, at weekends or on public holidays are generally received on the next business day. Please note that transfers of larger amounts may take longer.
At the end of the deposit term, we will transfer the deposit amount together with the accrued interest back to the legal entity’s current account.
4. Why do I need to complete a legal entity questionnaire and provide information about the source of funds when opening a deposit?
Banks are legally required to know their customers and obtain a sufficient understanding of their business activities. For this reason, we ask for information about the company, its representatives and beneficial owners and, where necessary, about the source of the funds being deposited.
This helps us assess whether the deposit amount is consistent with the customer’s activities and the information available to us. Where necessary, we may also ask you to provide additional information or supporting documents.
5. How is the identity of a company representative verified?
Banks are required to verify the identity of a company representative and confirm their authority to represent the company. Holm Bank uses Veriff for identity verification.
To complete the verification, you will need an internet-connected device with a working camera and a valid identity document. We will send you a personal verification link by email. Then follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
6. Can a term deposit agreement be terminated early?
Yes. To terminate the deposit early, send us a digitally signed termination request at [email protected]. As a rule, we will return the deposit amount within two banking days after the termination request has been confirmed.
Please note that if you terminate the agreement early, you will lose the interest accrued during the deposit term.
7. Does Holm Bank offer the best deposit interest rates in Estonia?
As an Estonian bank, our aim is to offer local individuals and businesses some of the best deposit interest rates for growing their available funds. In most cases, we offer the highest interest rates among Estonian banks across all deposit terms.
You can compare deposit terms and interest rates on the websites of different banks. A useful overview is also available in the deposit interest rate comparison published on minuraha.ee, the consumer information website of the Estonian Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority.
